THE ALEXANDER READING METHOD PROGRAM vs THE EXPECTATIONS IN SCHOOL SETTINGS & THE EARLY GRADES:
Literacy is one of the single biggest determinants of success in a child’s life leading intoadulthood. Kids who have a strong foundation of literacy do better in school, are morelikely to graduate and pursue higher education, as well as more likely to earn a stablewage as adults. Every parent wants their child to have the best possible start in life, butunfortunately, the traditional education system doesn’t seem to prepare them for that
In the United States, children are not required to enter school, inmost states, until the age of five.
Depending on your child’s birthday, this may place them in either Kindergarten or first-grade. While some reading is taught in preschool and early Kindergarten, depending on the institution, it is not always taught effectively.
Children do not learn phonics; they learn basic letters and how to identify sight words. In many cases, this persists even into the first grade. As a result, it’s not uncommon for parents to be told that their child is reading below expectations for their grade level even in the first grade, and certainly into the second. However, by second grade, these same children will already be falling behind in virtually every other subject that requires them to read!
The Alexander Reading Method gives children the tools to learn the fundamentals of reading before it gets pushed to them in the first-grade. Our program has been shown to help any child learn to read and excel in school. It is tailored to the child and their needs, and progress is tracked from the very beginning. It is a unique, play-based program that focuses on your child’s developmental strengths rather than focusing on traditional methods.
